Macao is the first colony in Asia when Portugal started administering the island in 1557 and the last when it was handed back to China in 1999. The Historical city centre is an UNESCO World Heritage site.

Ah Ma Temple

This Mazu Temple existed before the founding of the city. The earliest structure believed to be the Hall of Benevolence was built in 1488.

Barra Square

Mount Fortress

The fortress was built between 1617 to 1626. It successfully held off the Dutch invasion in 1622.

St Dominic's Church

This was the first church to be built in China. It was built in 1587.

Ruins of St Paul's

This is the facade of former cathedral built between 1582 to 1602 and was the largest Catholic church in Asia at that time.

Na Tcha Temple

This temple was built in 1888 to stop a plague at that time. It is located next to the Ruins of St Paul's.

Coloane Village Tin Hau Temple

Taipa Cheok Ka Village Tin Hau and Kuan Tai Temples

Taipa Village Tin Hau Temple

This Tin Hau Temple was built around 1785. It houses many historical relics including a bell casted in 1785 during the reign of Emperor Qianlong.

The Tin Hau Temple was built in 1865 and restored in 1987.

Kun Lam Temple

Kun Lam Temple is one of three famous temples in Macau. The temple was built as early as 1632 and was the site where the first Sino-American treaty was signed in 1844.
